Project Proposal

A field companion for the Samvidhaan Fellowship.

Your fellows do real work in small towns, often with one bar of signal. This is one simple tool that holds all of it. Their legal literacy sessions, their cases, their videos, the questions people bring them. And it gives your team one clear view across everyone, without chasing a single WhatsApp message.

01 — The need

What the work runs on today

Right now everything lives in Google Sheets, WhatsApp groups and email. It holds together, but only just. Updates get chased by hand. Files end up in five different places. And no one can see, at a glance, who is doing what.

This tool brings it all into one place. Each fellow gets their own space to log work and upload files. The Programme Manager sees the whole cohort. Partner organisations see only what concerns them. It is built for a basic phone, used in the field, on a connection that comes and goes.

02 — Scope

What the tool does

Six modules, taken straight from your workflow document. Nothing invented, nothing missing.

01

Legal Literacy Programmes

Plan and report sessions, log who attended, upload photos and consent forms. Each session shows up on a shared calendar your team and partner orgs can see.

02

Pre-Litigation Support

Log a support request, record the action taken, attach the file. A clear approval step sits in the middle, so nothing moves forward without a sign-off.

03

Litigation Support

A fellow types in a case number and the parties, the stage and the next hearing date fill in on their own, straight from eCourts. Documents attach right to the case.

04

Videos

The whole journey of a video, from the fellow's first upload, through feedback, the revision, the editor's branding, to publishing. Every step visible.

05

Ask Nyaaya

Questions get assigned, answered, checked for accuracy, then sent back to the person who asked. Follow-ups stay tied to the first question. Answers move to a sheet in one click.

06

Additional Activities

Panels, stakeholder meetings, the rest of the work that usually goes unrecorded. Logged simply, so it counts.

03 — How it connects

Built on what you already use

The tool sits on top of things you already have. That keeps it familiar for fellows and keeps your running costs low.

WhatsApp sign-in
Fellows log in with a code on WhatsApp through your existing Glific setup. No passwords to forget.
eCourts case data
Case details and hearing dates pulled in automatically, kept current with a daily sync.
Shared calendar
Legal literacy sessions and hearings show up on a calendar your team and partner orgs can follow.
Regional languages
The interface is available in Indian languages using Frappe's built-in translation.

As the fellowship grows

The ₹22,700 monthly cost above is for the current 40 fellows. Most of it is fixed, so adding fellows barely moves the number. The court-data service is the only part that grows with use, and even that stays flat until the cohort gets much larger.
